Join us for the Northern Illinois Horse Fest as it returns for its 12th great year. This year’s dates are Aug. 29-30 at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, Ill. This year we are adding much more to see and enjoy. We believe in something for everyone, every discipline and every horse to enjoy and experience in a very relaxed manner.
Our offerings this year include drill teams, dressage horsemanship, Trainer Challenge, Night of the Horse, Horsemanship for Women, Horse Idol Contest, trick training and riding.
Karen Scholl returns with Horsemanship for Women, a great addition for all women who love horses.
A new feature for 2009 is Clay Maier and his Friesian, Fantasy. This troupe has performed around the world with grace and elegance. Maier will also do clinics each day on longe lining.
New this year, J.P. Giacomini, a dressage master, brings us the ultimate in Manege and Versatility from the American Traditional Horsemanship Association. This is a traditional horsemanship competition for all to enter and compete. Join us at the Northern Illinois Horse Fest for Trofeo Mundi Traditional Horsemanship.
Laura Amandis returns with her Andalusian stallion, Acierto, to wow the crowd. Amandis will also do clinics each day.
Returning by popular demand is the Midwest Challenge Drill Team Competition, along with the ever-popular Night of the Horse during the Theater of Horses review Saturday night under the stars.
We also return the Trainer Challenge, Trail Challenge, round-table discussions on ”The Stolen Horse,” with Debi Metcalfe, and many other special events coming later.
Join top clinicians and trainers – Clay Maier, Karen Scholl, Suzanne Myers, Debi Metcalfe, Mike Branch, Chase Dodd, Chris Bohenek and J.P. Giacomini, to mention only few – from Montana to Virginia as they provide the best in equine education. We also offer rows and rows of vendors for great shopping and visiting with speakers and educators one on one.
With our daily presentations of breeds and top stallions as well as The Search for the Ultimate Horse Idol, we offer the Best Little Horse Fest in the Midwest. Join us for Cowboy Church on Sunday morning and in the horses for sale area.
We are making changes to the grounds layout to be much more user friendly. After 12 years, we are growing and planning special new things every year.
This year we will be filming for the “Speaking of Horses” TV show, with the focus being the Northern Illinois Horse Fest, and will have excerpts and highlights on Dish Network Channel 9411.
